Lorraine M. Koehler, 93, of Bloomer, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire with her family at her side.
Lorraine was born on June 14, 1924, in Cooks Valley, the daughter of Fred and Ann (Pfiefer) Poirier. She attended school at St. John’s Catholic School in Cooks Valley and graduated from Colfax High School. She went on to beauty school and became a licensed hair stylist working in the Chippewa Falls area.
Lorraine married George J. Koehler on June 6, 1946, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Together they raised four children and farmed at Brush Prairie until 1986 when they moved to Bloomer. Lorraine loved to play cards, and belonged to many card clubs. She also volunteered at St. Paul’s Catholic Church and School. George and Lorraine together delivered meals on wheels to area residents for several years. He passed away in December of 1999.
Lorraine loved to cook and made the best pies ever. She also was an avid gardener and loved to travel with her husband after retirement.
She is survived by her four children, Larry (Cindy) Koehler of Burnsville, MN, Vicky (James) Koepke of Gilbert, MN, Jon (Peggy) Koehler of Eagan, MN, and Richard (Loretta Rubenzer) Koehler of Bloomer; and two grandchildren, Joseph and Caliea.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and her brother, Marvin.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer with Father Victor Feltes celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday and 12-12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer. A Christian Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be private in the spring at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery in rural Bloomer.
Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home & Chippewa Valley Cremation Services in Bloomer is serving the family.
4-7 p.m. Monday and 12-12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer. A Christian Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
