Richard Stowell

February 17, 2018

Richard Allen Stowell, 71, of Bloomer, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire with his family at his side.

Richard was born April 27, 1946 and raised in the Cameron area. He was known by many people and by many names: Little Dickie, Mr. Stowell, Dickie-Doo, and Old Timer. He was most proud of being known as Babe, Dad, and Grampa Dick. Richard and Marquita were married in Watertown, SD on November 27, 1976. Marquita was his buddy and best friend of 41 years. They did everything together including dancing, hunting, fishing, going for long walks and simply sitting together enjoying quiet times at home. The joy in his life was spending time with his family and friends. He was the life of the party cracking jokes, providing entertainment with the “Dick” Dance, and getting into the “wrong box of words”. Richard would be there for everyone and anyone at a moment’s notice. Dick had a most generous heart and took pride in helping those around him including his family, friends and those in his community. He found peace by being in the woods and shared the deepest laughs with his family and friends. Richard’s deep faith brought great comfort to himself and his family.

Preceded in death by parents: Vernis Nutter and Eugene Stowell; father-in-law, Dale Talmage; son, Loran (Stoik) Stowell; son-in-law, John Andrew; brother, Shane Stowell; sister-in-law, Betty Stowell; brother-in-law, Russell Bullard; and nephews, Steven Viltz and Mikie Talmage.

Survived by loving and devoted wife, Marquita and six children: Todd (Lisa) Stowell, Troy (Audrey) Stowell, Michelle Andrew, Monica Mooney (George Lessard), DeeDee (Andrew) Gast and Melanie (Jeff) Meinen. Also by mother-in-law, Donna Talmage; siblings, Jeanne (“Peanuts”) Viltz, Kay (Malcom) Paine, Larry Stowell, Gloria (Al) Widiker, and Heather (Dave) Janda; sister-in-law, Annette Bullard; and brother-in-law, Michael (Jackie) Talmage; seventeen grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Sandford, Nathan (Miranda) Stowell, Zach (Emalee) Stowell, Zandy (Markel) Stowell, and Ariana Stowell (Jake Ovyn), Ryan, Jacob and Ella Andrew, Jordan and Alex Mooney (Maggie Johnson), Ethan and Lilly Lessard, Taylor and Tyler (Jessica) Gast, Gabe, Gavin and Sam Meinen; two great grandchildren, Finn Sandford and Harper Stowell; and by numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
