Bernard "Bernie" C. Geissler

GEISSLER, Bernard “Bernie” C., 81 of New Auburn passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Luther Midelfort Chippewa Valley Hospital in Bloomer.
Bernie was born to Herman J. and Rosalia “Sally” (Boos) Geissler on April 23, 1929. He married Shirley Yohnk on August 5, 1952 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Tilden. In his early years he worked at Bucyrus Erie in Milwaukee where he met Shirley and moved back to the farm where he was born.
Bernie loved farming and looked forward to every spring and being out in the field. After moving from the farm to Chetek, he worked on a farm and a lumberyard.
He enjoyed his Leinies, cards and family gatherings. Bernie had an infectious smile and laugh. He and his sons had great times on their fishing trips to Canada and hunting adventures.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, former member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Tilden and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Yohnk Geissler of New Auburn; 3 daughters, Connie (Martin) Viken of Chippewa Falls, Sandra (Mark) Gobler of Luck, WI, Roxanne (Tim) of WI Rapids; 5 sons, Dennis (Patty) of Colfax, Jeffrey (Cheryl)of Thorp, WI, Paul of New Auburn, Christopher (Nicole) Guichard / Geissler of McFarland, WI and Marcus Geissler of Duluth, MN. He also survived by 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Three sisters, Rosemary Mitchell of Chippewa Falls, Margie (Richie) Zwiefelhofer of Bloomer and Gertrude (Edwin) Frami of Muskego, WI
He is preceded in death by sons, Charles Bernard Geissler and Bernard Joseph Geissler; sisters Leona Geissler, Dorothy Woolever and Hermanilda Gall; brothers, George and Gilbert Geissler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 13, 2010 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Bloomer with Father Al Sonnberger officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Tilden.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Thursday at the Schriver Funeral Chapel, Bloomer and until the time of the Mass on Friday. There will be a 7:30 PM Christian Wake Service at the Funeral Chapel on Thursday.
