Mavis Joan Steinmetz, 83, of Chippewa Falls, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Lake Hallie Memory Care while under the care of MCHS Hospice.

She was born May 11, 1934, in Sand Creek, WI, the daughter of George and Amanda (Berg) Rediger. She attended Colfax and Bloomer High School graduating in 1952 from Bloomer. She married Jerome John Steinmetz on June 5, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eau Claire.

Mavis worked at Amoco Foam in Chippewa Falls for 25 years and later as a cashier at Holiday in Bloomer. She retired in 2011.  

Mavis was longtime member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church where she served on the PCCW. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and National Catholic Society of Foresters.

She was a great cook, baker, and seamstress. Mavis and Jerome enjoyed listening to old time music and watching their children and grandchildren participate in baseball, basketball and other activities.

Mavis is survived by her husband, Jerome; four daughters, Diane, Beverly, Joyce (Jonathan) Solem, Maria (Christopher) Raddatz; six sons, Mark (Ruth Ann), Bryon, Dale (Gina), Allen (Sheri), Bradley (Jennifer), Michael (Brandi); one brother, Mervin (Carole) Rediger; one sister, Delores Pauling; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2017, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer with Father Victor Feltes celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to Mass Monday at church. There will be recitation of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. preceding the visitation and A Christian Vigil Service held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will private at a later date at Hope Mausoleum in Chippewa Falls.

Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home & Chippewa Valley Cremation Services in Bloomer is serving the family.

Visitation

Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to Mass Monday at church. There will be recitation of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. preceding the visitation and A Christian Vigil Service held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer.

A Secret Garden Floral in Bloomer. All flowers should be delivered to the funeral home by 2 p.m. Sunday.
