Scott C. Wild

Scott C. Wild

June 20, 2018

Scott Charles Wild, 53, of Chippewa Falls, WI, ended his battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at 3 a.m., the hour of Divine Mercy.

Scott was born September 22, 1964, in Chippewa Falls, the son of Beverly Wild (Feuling) and the late Bernard Wild, Sr. On August 9, 1986, Scott married Katherine Wild (Bowe).

St. John Paul II said, “The measure of a man is his capacity to sacrifice for the good of his beloved.” Scott measured up tremendously to this standard with an inexhaustible capacity to love those around him. The great magnitude of his love was most evident as a husband to his primary beloved, his wife Kathy, as well as a father to his seven children.

He enjoyed his job as a lineman at Xcel Energy for 30+ years. He loved working storms, climbing poles, and restoring power; he especially loved the people he worked with. His co-workers loved and respected him. He never did anything halfheartedly whether at work, fishing or hunting, building his home, cleaning or fixing his cars, or packing and unpacking the groceries.

He daily laid down his life joyfully in service to his family. Scott was more than a breadwinner; he was the spiritual and emotional pillar of his family. Yet his love knew no borders. He truly never met a stranger because he made everyone feel like an old friend.

His greatest passion in life was his Catholic faith. He loved learning from the lives of the saints, praying the Holy Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and serving his church community at St. Peter’s.

His capacity for sacrifice and love took on new meaning when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year. He met every challenge with patience, courage, and most remarkably with concern not for himself but for those around him. His comforting phrase, “God has a plan,” was constantly on his lips. He was quick to remind us how truly blessed we are, and hoped that through his suffering, all would come closer to Christ. He may not have understood God’s plan, but he trusted it, and continued to love and sacrifice to the end.

Scott is survived by his wife, Katherine; children, Therese (Grover) Green, Maria (Ryan) Reynolds, Beverly Anna (Marcus) Walden, Abigail (Blake) Bertrand, Scott Wild Jr., Madeleine Wild, and Cheri-Grace Wild; grandchildren, Maximillian, Evangeline, Anastasia, and Finn; mother, Beverly Wild; siblings, Sara (Dick) Haley, Susie (Pete) Larson, Bernie (Susie) Wild Jr., Joe (Lori) Wild, Steve (Vicki) Wild, and Sandy (Steve) Ripplinger; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Wild, Sr.

  • Mark Candell I had the honor of working with Scott for several years before moving to the U.P. He was always the best part of having the power company come to your job for a disconnect. • David and Janie Green and Family The world has lost a truly saintly, great, and special MAN, who lived his life according to his beliefs in his Catholic faith, and his wondrous ability to love and serve his fellow man, and his unconditional love and commitment to his family, especially his “love of his life” Kathy, and his children and grand-children. He was/is a warm, caring, and loving husband, father, grand-father, son, brother, friend, loyal employee, and true Christian, Catholic MAN. Scott was/is a true patriot of our country, and treated everyone he knew with compassion, love and respect. He has entered his eternal reward in Heaven, alongside God, Christ, and all the rest of the saints, as well as his loving father. Those of us had the privilege to know and love Scott are truly blessed this presence in this imperfect world, and are truly better individuals for having Scott in our lives. Enjoy your eternal happiness and peace Scott, where the Packers and Badgers NEVER lose!! With love, affection, admiration, and respect, David and Janie Green and family. Houston, Texas.
