Alice Warne

July 6, 2018

Alice Faye Warne, 79, of Jim Falls, WI, passed away at her home on July 6, 2018, following a prolonged illness.

Alice was born August 22, 1938, in Clark County, Bradley, South Dakota, to Chet Neal and Dora (Miller) Neal and grew up in the Bradley & Clark, SD, areas. She attended and graduated from Clark High School. She and her husband Gordon Warne were united in marriage in 1958. They recently shared their 60th anniversary.

Early in their marriage they resided for a short time in Fargo, ND, and later moved to Watertown, SD. During her working career in the 1970’s, she was employed by Quadee Rubber and Plastics of Watertown. She was proud enough of the work that she did there and the friends that she made, that she continued carrying her UAW Machinists’ Union card in her wallet through the remainder of her life. In 1977, she and Gordon began their dairy farming operations in South Shore, SD. In 1988, they moved and purchased a dairy farm at New Auburn, Wisconsin. Within a few years, they moved to their current dairy farm at Jim Falls, WI. Prior to her illness, Alice loved farm life and raising calves. She was always noted for her love and special talent in caring for young calves and livestock.

To her and Gordon’s marriage, they were blessed with four sons: Doug, Todd, Steve, and Brad.

Throughout her life, Alice was completely devoted to her husband, Gordon, her sons, and all of the adventures their life presented. Aside from her farming responsibilities, this was everything from never-ending homemaker duties, planting a garden, building a home, relocating, and all that family life brings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Richard Neal of Clark, SD, Don Neal of Wichita, KS, and Cale Neal of Worthing, SD; and her father and mother-in-law, Joe and Laura Warne of Bryant, SD.

Alice is survived by her husband, Gordon; four sons, Doug (Delana) Warne of Cadott WI, Todd (Sue) Warne of Watertown, SD, Steve (Shawna) Warne of Watertown, SD, and Brad Warne of Jim Falls, WI; 13 Grandchildren; 15 Great-Grandchildren; her brother, Robert (Margaret) Neal of Watertown, SD; her sister, Barbara (LaVerne) Peterson of Watertown, SD; and sister, Jeanette Seefeldt of Yankton, SD.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at Schriver-Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer with Pastor Melinda Halom officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held near the farm at Cleveland Cemetery, Jim Falls, WI, at a later date.

Through her illness, Alice and Gordon developed a grateful relationship with her hospice caregivers. The family requests any memorials to be sent to St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice in Chippewa Falls, WI.
