Merlin R. Kreger, 76, of Chetek passed away on June 14, 2019 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Merlin was born in Osage, IA to Cecil and Fern (Fenneman) Kreger on December 10, 1942. He graduated from Charles City, IA. Merlin married Beverley Banks on February 8, 1964 in Charles City, IA. He worked on the assembly line at John Deere retiring as a supervisor. Merlin was supervisor for the Barron County Board of Supervisors, was involved in city politics, an active Lions Club member, receiving the Birch-Sturm fellowship award. He served his country in the Army in Vietnam. For several years Merlin was a very active member of the United Methodist Church in Chetek.
Merlin is preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Fern and his brother Rick.
He is survived by his wife Beverley of 55 years; his son Rob (Ami) and their children Brandon and Caitlin and his two brothers and two sisters.
His family will hold a private Celebration of Life.
Thompson Funeral Home & Chippewa Valley Cremation Services in Bloomer is serving the family.

My heart goes out to you. I enjoyed Merlin's quiet demeanor and his ability to make others think he couldn't hear you. Not a day passed where I could leave him with a smerk or a smile on his face. He was a good man and will be missed
