Harold Lawrence Loew, 78 of Edmond, Oklahoma died peacefully at home from natural causes on October 1, 2019.

Harold was born July 20, 1941, to Harold E. Loew and Cleara Wheeler in Chippewa Falls, WI, and then raised by his grandparents Emile and Anna Loew in Bloomer, WI, along with his uncle LeRoy with whom he was especially close.

Harold graduated from Bloomer High School in 1959 and then served in the US Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963 where he was stationed at the Marine Corps Base in Camp Pendleton, CA. His specialty was as a Motor Vehicle Operator. Harold obtained the rank of Corporal E-4 with the Rifle Expert Badge and Good Conduct Medal.

Harold married Donna M. Ellis of Colfax, WI in 1963 and was blessed with a 43-year marriage until her death in 2007. He later married Erna M. Nehring-Kirsch originally of Bloomer, WI and was blessed with a 5-year marriage until her death in 2014.

Harold worked for 15 to 20 years as an over the road truck driver. He then obtained employment at Waste Research and Reclaimation starting as a truck driver, being promoted and holding various positions in a 15-year span to finally become Vice President of environmental services after which he retired.

Harold was a very loving and sociable man. He was quick to share a bit of humor, advice or lend a hand to family and friends. Harold loved fishing, westerns and mingling.

Harold was preceded in death by his 1st wife Donna M. Loew, 2nd wife Erna M. Loew, his grandparents, Emile Loew and Anna Loew; father, Harold E. Loew; mother, Cleara Wheeler; uncles, Arnold Loew, Gilbert Loew, and LeRoy Loew; and aunt Elsie Loew-Krueger.

Harold is survived by his brothers, Donald Loew (Darlene), and Terry Loew; sisters, Bonita Pleier (Joe), and Jean Burkart (Todd); his sons, Kevin Loew, Harold J. Loew (Kimberly) and, Timothy J. Loew; daughter, Holly NaGel (Scott); step children, Christopher (Jen) Kirsch and Judy Kirsch; grandchildren, Chad, Amber, Jessica, Amanda, Kim, Dakota, Ryan, Melissa, Riley, and Reagan; great grandchildren, Darion, Aiden, Mariah, Christina, Lucas, Alex, Jackson, and Lexie; and aunts, Florence Hrdlicka (Bennie) and Viola Prince (Jerry); many cousins; nieces; nephews; extended family; special friend, Pat Prill; and many close friends at home and across the United States.

Memorial Services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1403 Newman St, Bloomer, WI 54724 on Saturday, November 9, 2019, starting with visitation at the church at 2 PM followed by the funeral service at 3 PM. Interment will be held at St. Paul’s North Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer.

A celebration of Harold’s life will be held at the Valley Tavern, 14515 State Hwy 40, Bloomer, WI 54724 following the cemetery service.

  • Bonita R. Pleier My deepest sympathy to my brothers children and loved ones. It is with regret and sorrow that We lose our first sibling, your father. I cherish my memories of him and was so very grateful to be able to visit with him on the phone and remember times together. Thank you Harold and Kim for your devoted care of him during his final days on hospice. Holly, your last picture with your dad is priceless! The love in that picture brings happy tears to my eyes.
