Earnest “Earnie” F. Jones, 82, of Eau Claire, and formerly of Bloomer, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Earnie was born January 23, 1937, in Ashville, NC, to James and Susie (Matthews) Jones. He was raised in Albany, NY. Earnie joined the U.S. Army on April 19, 1954 and served in Korea until his honorable discharge on April 18, 1957 and returned to Wisconsin to begin his life-long career of over-the-road truck driving. He logged millions of miles during his career.

Earnie married Cheryl Webster on July 14, 1979, in Bloomer having already welcomed their daughter Carla Jones Schwab.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cheryl of Eau Claire; daughter, Carla Jones Schwab of Altoona; granddaughters, Lynsie (Collin Sorenson) Jones of Eau Claire and Katie Rodriguez of Altoona; brothers-in-law, Jerome and Eldon Webster; his son, Ernie Jones from a previous marriage; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Earnie was preceded in death by his parents; in laws, Morris and Orphia Webster; three sisters; three brothers; and his ex-son-in-law, Paul Schwab.

His favorite pastimes were drinking beer with his good ol’ truck driving buddies, camping, fishing, and of course his family.

A memorial service with Military Honors rendered by the Bloomer American Legion & VFW will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Thompson Funeral Home & Chippewa Valley Cremation Services in Bloomer. A celebration of life and luncheon will be held immediately following the service until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Visitation

4:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer. A luncheon will be served at the funeral home as well.

Service

4 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Thompson Funeral Home.
