Ione M. Ellis, 90, of Bloomer, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Lake Hallie Memory Care.
She was born February 12, 1930, in Tilden, WI, the daughter of Edwin and Amelia (Sokup) Geissler. Ione married Perry J. Ellis on August 28, 1947, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Tilden. Together they raised five children. Ione’s focus in life was on her home and caring for her family.
Ione was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer, where she sang in the church choir. Her hobbies included arts & crafts, working in her flower gardens, spoiling her grandchildren and baking treats with them.
Survivors include three sons, Terry (Betty) Ellis of Bloomer, Gerry (Rita) Ellis of New Auburn, Barry Ellis of Bloomer; grandchildren, Terry, Heather, Barry, Nicholas, Mack, Lindsey, and Demitre; great grandchildren, Mitch Stewart, Cody and Kylie Lubben, Katie Ellis and Klara Ellis; great-great grandchildren Aiyana and Zebraya Lubben, Nataya Davis and Clover Tyler; and a sister, Rosemary Steinmetz of Caledonia, WI.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Harry and Kim Ellis; great-granddaughter, Lacey Ellis; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer with Father Victor Feltes celebrating the Mass. Burial will immediately follow mass at St. Paul’s North Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home & Chippewa Valley Cremation Services in Bloomer from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. prior to mass. Please note that face masks will be required at all locations.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Lake Hallie Memory Care and Mayo Hospice for all the loving care given to Ione.
