Elizabeth M. Bruns
December 9, 2020
Elizabeth “Liz” Bruns, age 90, of Dove Healthcare in Bloomer, went to her heavenly home on December 9, 2020.
She was born to Henry and Ida (Zeller) Timmerman in Cresco, Iowa on March 27,1930. Her childhood was living on a farm with three brothers.
Elizabeth moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she met and married Norbert Bruns on July 6, 1953. Together they raised four children.
Unable to finish high school as a child, she took it upon herself to go back and accomplish her GED in 1969. Liz's passion was to help people and she did so in many capacities; in her church, community and doing elderly care. Her last wish and gesture of helping people was to donate her body to Mayo Clinic in Rochester. It will be used for medical training and research.
Among her accomplishments was owning two small businesses, a Baskin Robbins store in Brookdale, Minnesota and Midway Beach Resort in Osakis, Minnesota. These were eventually sold and she semiretired still participating in elder care.
Elizabeth enjoyed laughter! And in her last weeks of life she had laughter and smiles. She thoroughly enjoyed nature, golf, shopping, playing games, and being with friends and family.
In her lifetime, she was blessed also with 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In 2015, she moved to Bloomer and enjoyed the small-town hospitality and became a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Thank you to Dove Healthcare Bloomer for the wonderful care and support given to Liz while she resided there. It always felt like home to her.
Survivors include her children, Diann (Ron), Dean (Wendy), Debie, Danita (Kevin); Grandchildren, Jason Pribyl, Jessica (David) Richmond, Jennifer Bruns, Jonathan Bruns, Jesse Bruns, Joshua Bruns, Adrian Barhan, and Taylor Barhan; Great grandchildren, Tyler Pribyl, Jackson Pribyl, Ethan Richmond, Ashton Richmond, Graham Bruns; And many numerous nieces and nephews.
