John Michael "Mike" Sokup, age 80 of Milwaukee, WI passed away at his home on November 30, 2020.  No services are planned at this time and a private burial will be in Bloomer, WI, later this spring.

Mike Sokup was born to Phyllis (NEE Nicholas) and Archie Sokup on January 4, 1940, in Bloomer, Wisconsin.   He went to St. Paul's Catholic School skipping kindergarten much to his mother's pride and joy.  He became an Eagle Scout with the help of mentors and leaders at Bloomer High School.  He graduated from Bloomer High School and made it back for a few class reunions.    At a young age, he worked at Bloomer Bakery for his father and then at the grocery store owned by his father.  He married Barbara (nee; Potter) October 11, 1958 in Phoenix, AZ.  On September 10, 1988, he married Linda (nee; Dorn) in Burington, Wisconsin.

As a lifelong learner he never tired of being a student; receiving degrees from Arizona State University, University of Wisconsin-Stout and University of Wisconsin-Madison in a variety of areas in education.  His first love of learning was History through Educational Administration.  He was an avid reader, Wisconsin sports fanatic and even kept up with Bloomer sports teams over the years.  He loved traveling, music, and time with family.  He was a proud Papa to Davin, Aidan, Rowan, Isabel, and George.

Mike was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara; his parents, Phyllis and Archie Sokup; Mother and Father in law, Chauncey and Florence Potter and Edward and Donna Dorn; and brother-in-law, Daniel "Danny" Marshall Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; sister, Sylvia (Sis) Marshall; sons, Jeff (Shannon) Sokup and Jim (Clare) Sokup; and daughter, Jodi Sokup.  He is further survived by grandchildren, Davin (Krista), Aidan, Rowan, Isabel, and George.

Mike will be missed dearly.
