Dorothy A. Zimmerman, 87, of Bloomer, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at Country Terrace in Bloomer, under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
Dorothy was born May 2, 1933 in Chippewa County to Paul and Mary (Seibel) Wolf. She is a 1951 graduate of McDonnel Catholic High School. She married Robert Paulus and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1974. She then married Ron Zimmerman on December 17, 1977, he survives.
Dorothy is further survived by her children, Cynthia Rosenbrook, John (Mary) Paulus and Carol (Randy) Bowe, all of Bloomer; grandchildren, Adam, Emily, Claire and Ian; great grandchildren, Tommy, Hank, Millie, Mikey and Miles; siblings, Jack (Mary) Wolf, Patty (Rene) Johns and Dan Wolf, all of Bloomer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kitty Paulus; sisters, Charlotte Krygier, Rosie Joswiak, Paula Nehrling; brother, Jerry Wolf; son in law, Dr. Gordon Rosenbrook.
Dorothy raised her children at home until her Husband Robert passed and then went on to earn her Nurses Assistant certification and worked at various health care facilities. Dorothy then worked for the UBC as the assistant manager. Many Bloomer residents sought out her interior decorating skills with choosing paint color schemes and home décor.
Dorothy will be remembered for her love of cooking and sharing recipes, hosting dinner parties and incredible sewing abilities. She had a passion for collecting antiques (other people’s junk) to refurbish, display and use.
Dorothy was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church where she was the catalyst in creating the thrift sale that helped raise money for the school.
A prayer service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer. Deacon Dick Kostner will officiate. Following the prayer service, a celebration of life along with visitation and refreshments will be held at the Original Bloomer Brewery Building, 1526 Martin Road, Bloomer, beginning at 3:00 PM. Burial of cremated remains will take place at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery – South in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Dorothy can be given to St. Paul’s Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Thompson Funeral Home and Chippewa Valley Cremation Services of Bloomer is assisting the family with arrangements.
No formal visitation will be held prior to the Prayer Service.
A prayer service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer. Following the prayer service, a celebration of life will be held at the Original Bloomer Brewery Building, 1526 Martin Road, Bloomer, beginning at 3:00 PM, refreshments provided.
Floral arrangements should be delivered to Thompson Funeral Home by 12:30 PM that day.
